"To Cover or Not to Cover..." by Nadia Dolce

Hey Sweethearts!
For those of you who know of me, already know that I am a songwriter. I love writing songs...You can find some on Youtube, Soundcloud and iTunes :)  However, many of them I haven't gotten a chance to release yet but I am sure with time, more and more of them will come up. This blog post, I thought it would be cool to write about how I feel about covers & original music.

There's an amazing feeling that comes with singing something you wrote but there's also another great feeling that comes with singing songs written by others and interpreting lyrics you feel really connected to. Many people in my surroundings have told me not to sing covers because I am a songwriter and an artist, that I have my own songs and it is amateur to sing covers. This brought a dilemma "To Cover or Not to cover...". I don't feel it's amateur. Many of the big stars do it in concert and studio sessions. I find it shows appreciation for others music. I have a lot of respect for singers/ Youtube sensations like Christina Grimmie & Lisa Lavie who are amazing and do unbelievable renditions of covers. They both also write their own stuff too! I've let many people's opinions cloud my judgement and I just wanna do what makes me happy. When it comes to passion, music and art, I feel that there's no right or wrong answer. You just have to go with what you feel in your heart. As for myself, I will not stop writing my own material but I would like to cover some songs that make me feel good and also bring back songs that inspire me from the past. As well as Italian covers who are a big part of who I am as a singer today.

In the next weeks, I will post more and more videos of my originals as well as some covers who are not all hits... some that are simply personal favorites and hidden gems from popular artists. My latest cover is "Mercy"from Duffy. I really love this one cause I am going through this Soul phase! Eversince, I watched "The Sapphires":) and "Get On Up", the story of James Brown's... loved it!  You'll  also find my original song which is "Mr Rhythm & Blues" from my album "All Around the World" that is a little more dance but has some soul and similar elements. NADIA DOLCE IN VINJENZ FASHION PHOTOSHOOT WITH DOLCEAMARE

Hey Sweethearts!
There are lots of great things happening in my career! I am so blessed <3 I've been working on my solo, writing lots of new and inspired stuff by the Fashion world.  I'm excited to be releasing my next single J'adore Le Fashion in the next weeks. It was already featured on two runways in Montreal for Pamela Quinzi, the Cinderella of New York's fashion show at Embassy Plaza in Laval as well as the "Fashion Four Women's Beauty Show" at Le Rizz. Also, I've been working with my soul sister Alessandra with Dolceamare Girlgroup. We recently got a radio show on CKVL 101.1 FM called "JEUDI MARTINI" and collaborated on a fashion shoot with the Maska Store. We got to model some lovely pieces. Nadia Dolce @ Les Fetes Gourmandes de Laval

Hey Sweethearts!

A post was long overdue! I have been crazy busy with Montreal's Italian week! I am so proud about everyone who took part into sharing their passion and knowledge for the Italian culture. It was amazing singing with Dolceamare and sharing the stage with such great young local talents which has led to something very special. I've discovered a few mini divas that I will be touring with this fall. I am so excited about showcasing these three singing cuties and their first stop will be with me this week at Les Fetes Gourmandes de Laval. They've been working hard so show your support and come encourage myself and The Starlettes. It's going to be a great event exhibiting culinary excellence from all around the world!(Pun intended hahaha) But it is true and if you love food like I do :) This is the place to be from the 20th to the 24th at the Cosmodome of Laval. There will be some great entertainment including Mariachis, gipsies, salsa and a retro night. I will be singing every night so come by, say hello, watch the show and munch on some international gourmet delights. I hear there are lots of out of the ordinary foods to try like aligator , kangaroo, insects and turtles... I for one will be venturing to discover some new foods! I also love me a good beer and there will be a variety of tastings from the four corners of the globe. I am picky but lately I am in the mood for something exciting... A new gastronomic experience might just satisfy my appetite! :)

Lastly, I feel so grateful to be a part of this amazing event that keeps growing every year and introducing fantastic restaurants that are hidden gems in Montreal as well as various foods, beverages and sweets!

Nadia Dolce @ Raw Showcase!

Hey Sweethearts!
It's been a while! I've been neglecting my blog so I am back with some 2014 news! In one week, I am starting all preparations to begin live shows with choreography! EXCITED! First show announced will be at RAW showcase in Montreal at the Rialto Theatre April 26th. Don't forget to get your tickets by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page if you wanna come watch a special show. I will be singing some new unreleased songs from my upcoming album as a special treat! I will also be selling some Dolce Merch!

At the begining of the year, I began to work with a great woman and artistic director called Wilda Mazhar. She moved me a little out of my comfort zone while still being true to my own person style. As you can see... I've changed my black locks for an ombre look at Estetica Salon in Montreal. Now, I get to have the best of both worlds. :) She created the whole look for the shoot inspired by animal print, Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot. A big thanks to the whole team for creating some beautiful art. 2014 is full of new changes but I'm taking in the bad with the good and really focusing on the positives in my life. These days, I'm feeling really good about everything! "Remember" has been released worldwide playing on radios everywhere! If you haven't heard it... Request it at your local radio station to show your support. Let's make some noise!
